Getting Started: How to
Launch Your First
Bot from Scratch
Before activating any bot, you need a verified account, deposited funds, and proper security configurations in place. This tutorial holds your hand through every single step—from creating your account to having your first bot running—assuming zero prior technical knowledge.
What You Need Before Starting
To follow this tutorial, you only need three things:
- A valid email address that you can access immediately to verify your account.
- An identification document (ID card, passport, or driver's license) for Pionex's mandatory basic KYC verification.
- Starting capital — we recommend a minimum of 100–200 USDT. You can start with less, but below that threshold, exchange fees will heavily erode your potential profits.
Pionex is the premier cryptocurrency exchange featuring the largest variety of native, free-to-use trading bots. You don't need to connect complex external APIs; everything is built directly into the platform. It offers 16 different bot types, an ultra-low 0.05% trading fee (no monthly subscriptions required), and is available on Web, iOS, and Android.
5 Steps to Get Started
Head over to pionex.com and click "Sign Up". Enter your email and create a secure password (minimum 8 characters, including uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols). You will receive a verification email — click the link within 10 minutes.
If you use the registration link on this site, you will get the exact same free account, as Pionex does not charge any registration or subscription fees.
Pionex requires basic identity verification before you can deposit funds and run bots. Navigate to Profile → KYC Verification. The process involves two tiers:
- Level 1 (Basic KYC): Full name, country of residence, and date of birth. Approval is usually instantaneous.
- Level 2 (Advanced KYC): Photo of your ID document and a quick selfie. Necessary for unlocking higher daily withdrawal limits. This typically takes 24–48 hours to approve.
To start with smaller amounts, Level 1 KYC is generally sufficient. Complete Level 2 if you plan on trading with more than 2,000 USDT.
Before depositing any capital, enable 2FA. This is your most vital security measure. Go to Profile → Security → Two-Factor Authentication and select Google Authenticator.
There are three main ways to fund your Pionex account. Choose the one that best fits your situation:
If transferring from another exchange, ensure you use the exact same network for sending and receiving. For example: if sending USDT via the TRC-20 network, generate your deposit address on Pionex under the TRC-20 network. Using incompatible networks will result in a permanent loss of funds.
With your account funded, navigate to Bot → Grid Bot and select a major pair like BTC/USDT or ETH/USDT to start. You have two setup options:
- AI Strategy (Recommended for Beginners): Click on "AI Parameters". Pionex automatically calculates the optimal price range and grid count based on the last 7 days of price data. Review the suggested parameters, input your investment capital, and hit create.
- Manual Setup: Manually define your lower limit, upper limit, and grid count. This offers maximum control but requires an understanding of how each parameter impacts profitability. Follow our configuration tutorial if you choose this route.
For your very first bot, use the AI mode with 100–200 USDT. Observe its behavior and profit generation for a week before scaling up your capital or adjusting parameters manually.
Even when using the AI strategy, make sure you configure a Stop Loss. It's available as an advanced option before creating the bot. Place it at least 5–8% below your range's lower limit. Omitting the Stop Loss is the most common—and expensive—mistake beginners make.
